How To Reset Oil Change Light on select GM front-drivers

1991 Oldsmobile Toronado, Trofeo WITHOUT CRT Display

- To reset ‘oil life index’, press the 2 OPTIONS button: three times if vehicle is equipped with a phone and compass; two times
- if vehicle is equipped with a phone or compass; once if equipped with neither.
- While ‘oil life index’ is displayed, press and hold RESET/ENTER key at bottom right of the 15 button switch for 5 seconds.

1989-92 Oldsmobile Toronado, Trofeo w/CRT display

- After changing oil, press the INFO (A) button to the right of the screen. Next, touch the area on the screen titled ‘oil life’.
- Date of the last oil change and a bar graph will appear on the screen.
- Touch the area on the screen titled ‘reset’ (B).
- You will be asked if you have changed the oil.
- Touch the area on the screen titled “YES” and the system will reset the graph to 100% and update the oil change information to the current time and mileage.

1989-1990 Oldsmobile Toronado, Trofeo WITHOUT CRT Display

- When ‘change oil’ appears above speedometer or when you want to reset ‘oil life index’ to 100%, press ENG DATA (A) button until an oil message appears on message center (if it does not do so already).

- Then press the ENG DATA and RESET/ENTER (1990) or ENG DATA and GAGE (1989) buttons at the same time. ‘oil life index’ will reset to 100% and ‘change oil’ will be erased.

1991 Oldsmobile Toronado, Trofeo w/o CRT Display

- To reset ‘oil life index’, press the 2 OPTIONS button: three times if vehicle is equipped with a phone and compass; two times if vehicle is equipped with a phone or compass; once if equipped with neither.
- While ‘oil life index’ is displayed, press and hold RESET/ENTER key at bottom right of the 15 button switch for 5 seconds.

1989-1992 Oldsmobile Toronado, Trofeo w/CRT

- After changing oil, press the INFO (A) button to the right of the screen.
- Next, touch the area on the screen titled ‘oil life’. Date of the last oil change and a bar graph will appear on the screen.
- Touch the area on the screen titled ‘reset’ (B). You will be asked if you have changed the oil.
- Touch the area on the screen titled ‘yes’ and the system will reset the graph to 100% and update the oil change information to the current time and mileage.

1989-1990 Oldsmobile Toronado, Trofeo WITHOUT CRT Display

- When ‘change oil’ appears above speedometer or when you want to reset ‘oil life index’ to 100%, press ENG DATA (A) button until an oil message appears on message center (if it does not do so already).
- Then press the ENG DATA and RESET/ENTER (1990) or ENG DATA and GAGE (1989) buttons at the same time.
- ‘oil life index’ will reset to 100% and ‘change oil’ will be erased.

1989-93 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme w/Driver Information System

- When ‘change oil now’ appears on Driver Information System or if you want to reset Information System ‘oil life index’ to 100%, press OIL (A) button until an oil message is displayed (if it is not already).
- Next, press RESET (B) and OIL (A) buttons at the same time and the ‘oil life’ will be reset to 100% and ‘change oil now’ will be erased.

1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue

- Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine.
- Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.
- If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes two times, the system is resetting.
- Turn the key off after the the light has finished flashing, then start the vehicle.
- If the CHANGE OIL SOON indictor comes back on, the engine oil life monitor has not reset, repeat the procedure again.

If the vehicle is equipped with the U20 option code, the vehicle as an oil life low indicator
- ‘OIL LIFE LOW’ will apear on indicator when remining life is less than 10%
- To reset the oil life monitor, press and hold the MODE button until the light appears next to OIL LIFE.
- Hhold the trip RESET button until the oil life percentage changes to 99%.

1995-1999 Oldsmobile Aurora

- To reset OIL LIFE message, press the ENG. button with the ignition on until OIL LIFE percentage is displayed.
- Press the RESET button for 5 seconds.
- RESET will appear and then OIL LIFE 100%.

2001-2003 Oldsmobile Aurora

- With ignition on, press select right arrow button on Driver Information Center (DIC) to oil life % is displayed.
- Press reset and hold for five seconds.
- Oil life 100% will appear and then when the button is released oil life 100% will be displayed.
- Turn ignition off.

2000-2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

- Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine.
- Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.
- If the CHG OIL SOON light flashes two times, the system is resetting.
- Turn the key to OFF, then start the vehicle.
- If the CHG OIL SOON light comes back on, the system has not reset, repeat the procedure.

Follow this procedure to reset the GM Oil Life System using the DE 100 Series Radio
- Turn the ignition to ACC or ON and the radio off.
- Press and hold the DISP button on the radio for at least five seconds until SETTINGS is displayed.
- Press the SEEK up or down arrow to scroll through the main menu.
- Scroll until OIL LIFE appears on the display.
- Press the PREV or NEXT button to enter the submenu.
- RESET will be displayed. Press the DISP button to reset.
- A chime will be heard to verify the new setting and DONE will be displayed for one second.
- Once the message has been reset, scroll until EXIT appears on the display.
- Press the DISP button to exit programming.
- A chime will be heard to verify the exit.

2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

- Press the fuel information button until ENGINE OIL LIFE appears on the Driver Information Center (DIC).
- Press and hold the select button.
- The engine oil life percentage will return to 100.
- Turn the key to OFF.
- If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset.
Repeat the procedure.

2004-2006 Chevrolet Malibu

- Turn ignition to run engine off.
- Display OIL LIFE RESET in the Driver Information Center (DIC).
- Press and hold the ENTER button for at least one second.
- An ‘acknowledged’ display message will appear for three second or until the next button is pressed.
- This will tell you the system has been reset.
- Turn the key to OFF.
- If the ‘change engine oil’ message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset.
– Repeat the procedure.

1996-1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
- Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine.
- Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.
- If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes two times, the system is resetting.
- Turn the key to OFF, then start the vehicle.
- If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes on and stays on for five seconds, repeat the procedure.

1996-2001 Chevrolet Lumina
- Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine.
- Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.
- If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes two times, the system is resetting.
- Turn the key to OFF, then start the vehicle.
- If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes on and stays on for five seconds, repeat the procedure.

1983-1989 Pontiac 6000 w/Driver Information Center

- To reset ‘change oil’ or ‘oil filter’ or to adjust mileage on Driver Information Center, continually press the DIC (A) button until either message appears with the mileage below it.
- At this point, hold the button down. In 5 to 10 seconds, the mileage will count down.
- When it passes 0, it will cycle to a maximum figure.
- Release the button when the mileage gets to the interval you want the customer to observe for the next service.
- If ‘change oil’ or ‘oil filter’ already appears, just hold the button down to reset mileage.
‘change oil’ and ‘oil filter’ are reset separately.

2005-2006 Pontiac G6

- Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.
- If the CHG OIL SOON lights two times, the system is resetting. Turn the key to OFF, then start the vehicle.
- If the CHG OIL SOON light comes back on, the system has not reset, repeat the procedure.

1988-1993 Pontiac Grand Prix w/Trip Computer

- To reset ‘change oil’, ‘change oil filter’, or the mileage of either on the Trip Computer, continually press the SERVICE or SYSTEMS CHECK (A) button until the item appears with the mileage below it.
- Then press the RESET (B) button. Mileage will be reset to the maximum value.
- If you want to reduce this value, hold the RESET (B) button down and the mileage will count down.
- Release the button at the mileage you want the customer to observe for the next service.
- ‘change oil’ and ‘change oil filter’ are reset separately.

1997-1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

- To reset oil life indicator, press the MODE button until the light next to OIL LIFE is lit.
- Press and hold RESET for 3 seconds until oil life percentage is 100%.

1999-2003 Pontiac Grand Prix
- Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine.
- Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.
- If the CHANGE OIL Soon indicator flashes two times, the system is resetting.
- Turn the ignition key to OFF, then start the vehicle.
- If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes on and stays on, repeat the procedure.

- To reset the OIL LIFE indictor if equipped with a Trip Computer, press the TRIP MODE button until the light appears next to OIL LIFE.

- Press and hold the trip RESET button until the oil life percentage changes to be 99 percent.





2004-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix

- To reset engine oil life monitor. Press the options button on the DIC until ENGINE OIL MONITOR appears on the DIG screen.
– Press the set/reset button to reset the system.

- The next screen indicates that the engine oil monitor system has been reset.

- If the vehicle is equipped with the trip computer DIG, when the gage button is pressed and the OIL LIFE REMAINING mode appears, it should read 100 percent OIL LIFE REMAINING.

- Turn the key to OFF.

- If the CHANGE OIL SOON message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

2000-2005 Cadillac Seville

- Turn the ignition to ON.

- Press the INFO button on the Driver Information Center (DIC) button to display ENGINE OIL LIFE.

- Press and hold the INFO RESET button on the DIG until the display reads 100% ENGINE OIL LIFE.

- The engine oil life index is now reset.

- Turn the ignition OFF.

1997-1998 Cadillac Eldorado/Seville

- Display ENGINE OIL LIFE by pressing the INFO button.

- Press and hold the INFO RESET button until the message shows 100.

1994-1997 Cadillac Eldorado/Seville

- Press INFORMATION button until OIL LIFE LEFT is displayed.

- Press RESET button until 100 or 0.0 OIL LIFE LEFT is displayed.

1997-05 Buick Regal, 2005 Buick Century, Buick Allure/Lacrosse

- Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine.

- Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.

- If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes two times, the system is resetting.

- Turn the key to OFF, then start the vehicle.

- If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes on and stays on for five seconds, repeat the procedure.
